Ex-South African president expelled from ANC party

Pritoria, July 29 (UNI) Former South African President Jacob Zuma has been expelled from the African National Congress (ANC) political party, South African media reported on Sunday.

Zuma was found guilty of attacking the integrity of the ANC by forming the uMkhonto WeSizwe Party (MK Party), the SABC radio broadcaster reported.

In early June, the MK Party led by Zuma came third in South Africa’s general election, winning 58 seats in the country’s national assembly. The party accused the electoral commission of rigging the vote.

The MK Party was founded in December 2023. The party was named after the ANC’s paramilitary wing that was active until the 1990s.

Scandals regularly occurred around Zuma during his political career. The politician allowed himself harsh statements, his polygamy was also perceived ambiguously. The politician faced multiple allegations, including of corruption. In February 2018, Zuma was forced to take early retirement as president amid a major scandal.
