- A week of mathematical excellence at BSSS
Bhopal: The Faculty of Science marked the 137th Birth Anniversary of the Legendary Mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan by organizing a week-long series of events from January 10 to 16, 2025. All the events were Catalysed and Supported by the National Council of Science and Technology Communication (NCSTC), Govt. of India, New Delhi, and M. P. Council of Science and Technology (MPCST), Bhopal.
The celebration aimed to highlight the significance of Mathematics in innovation and research, while fostering enthusiasm among students to explore its applications. The seven-day program commenced with a Mathematical Relay Race, an engaging activity that encouraged teamwork and problem-solving. The celebration included three Expert Sessions on pivotal topics: Workshop on Mathematical Software: Mathematica, Introduction to Research, The Art of Mathematics: Turning Challenges into Opportunities, Mathematical Quiz, and Puzzle Solving Competitions, Poster Making Competitions in both traditional and digital formats, centered around the theme “Mathematics: The Bridge to Innovation and Progress.”
Principal Dr Fr. John P.J. commended the coordinators for successfully organizing the event under “Mathematics: The Bridge to Innovation and Progress.” Dr. Vandana Yadav, Head of the Department, highlighted the indispensable role of mathematics in students’ lives and its relevance in interdisciplinary research and development. She encouraged students to adopt a holistic approach to learning, which is essential for innovation. The program was skillfully coordinated and executed by Dr. Jerolina Fernandez, Dr. Poornima Tiwari, and Ms. Nikita Prajapati.
