Passengers escape unscathed
Dhar: A major accident was narrowly averted in Rajgarh district, where a fire broke out in a moving bus, with around 21 passengers onboard. Quick-thinking passengers were safely evacuated before the situation escalated. Firefighters worked tirelessly to bring the blaze under control
The incident took place near the Solanki Dhaba on the Indore-Ahmedabad National Highway. The bus, en route from Indore to Jhabua, caught fire on Wednesday. The driver, Umesh Damor, reported that he began noticing a burning smell inside the bus as they approached Rajgarh. Upon inspection, flames were visible. Despite efforts to extinguish the fire with water, it rapidly spread. The driver immediately evacuated the passengers, ensuring their safety.
Within moments, the fire grew uncontrollable, sending a thick plume of smoke visible for over a kilometer. Upon receiving the distress call, the Rajgarh Municipal Corporation’s fire brigade rushed to the scene. After strenuous efforts, the fire was finally contained, but not before the bus was completely gutted. During the operation, traffic was disrupted, but the police later restored normalcy. Fortunately, no casualties were reported, thanks to the swift actions of the passengers and crew.
