Srinagar, Nov 24 (UNI) Kashmir, witnessed a slight respite from cold wave conditions on Friday.
The visibility in Srinagar also improved as fog over the region reduced Friday morning, officials said.
In the last three days, Kashmir has witnessed a drop in temperature to zero degrees. The cold conditions were accompanied by thick fog that severely reduced visibility on the roads, causing a lot of challenges for the local residents.
According to the Meteorological (Met) Department, the minimum temperature in Srinagar was recorded at 0.9 °C during the night, as against minus 0.8°C on Thursday.
The MeT said that the lowest temperature was recorded in the tourist resort of Pahalgam in south Kashmir, where mercury dropped to -3.3°C against Thursday’s -1.8°C .
The minimum temperature in the ski resort of Gulmarg in north Kashmir settled at minus 2 °C against Thursday’s 0.4°C.
The MeT director, Mukhtar Ahmad, has predicted generally dry but occasionally cloudy weather until November 28, after which there are chances of two days of wet weather.
“On November 29 and 30, generally cloudy weather with light rain and snow at isolated higher places is expected,” he said.
