- Stigma of hunting on Tiger State Madhya Pradesh
- Tiger conservator, wildlife expert express concern
Chronicle Reporter, Bhopal
Madhya Pradesh, which is called the Tiger State, has been cursed.
Tiger conservator and wildlife expert Ajay Dubey has expressed concern over the death of 24 tigers in the last 6 months. Dubey has asked the sleeping Forest Department to wake up. Recently, the dead body of a tiger was found in the forest area of ??Obaidullahganj in Ratapani. 24 hours after Dubey’s complaint, the dead body of the tiger was found near the water body.
Tiger conservator Dubey said about this matter that Tiger State Madhya Pradesh has been facing the stigma of maximum tiger deaths and maximum poaching for the last 12 years. He said that the forest department is as careless as it should be during the rainy season. Tourists are prohibited from entering during the rains. In such a situation, the forest department should be more vigilant with the help of patrolling and informer systems. In the cases of Obaidullaganj including Satpura, the negligence of the forest department officers has come to the fore. He has demanded action against the DFO level officers from the government. Dubey says that there is no doubt that the safety of tigers is being compromised. There is a lack of diligence in the wildlife officers. Due to this, hunters waiting to hunt tigers are hunting them easily. The forest department is not serious about the safety of tigers.
Officers responsible for deaths: Congress
Congress state spokesperson Amit Sharma alleged that tigers are being hunted in the state with the connivance of officers with political patronage. On one hand, cheetahs were relocated from the Centre to MP, while on the other hand, the maximum number of tigers are being hunted in tiger state Madhya Pradesh. The guidelines of the Supreme Court and NTCA are being flouted.
Tiger deaths will increase: BJP
BJP state spokesperson Jai Singh Yadav said on the Congress’s allegation that the directionless Congress should not do politics on such a sensitive issue. MP got the title of Tiger State during the BJP rule and it has retained it. The government is continuously working towards conservation. He also advised that where the number of tigers is high, the number of deaths will also increase. Sometimes cases of tiger deaths are coming to light due to illness and sometimes due to age limit. As far as hunting is concerned, the department is working at many levels to strictly control it.
