Mahendra Bagri, a prominent BJP leader of Panna district and former MLA of Gunaur Assembly, has joined the Congress. Former District Panchayat Vice President and senior Congress leader Ramakant Sharma mediated for him.
Former MLA Bagri along with Ramakant Sharma and Congress District President Shivjit went to the residence of former Chief Minister Kamal Nath in Bhopal and took membership of Congress. Let it be known that in the 2013 assembly elections, he became MLA from BJP by defeating the current Congress MLA Shivdayal Bagri. By canceling his ticket in the 2018 assembly elections, BJP had made former MLA Rajesh Verma its Gunaur assembly candidate, who had lost the election to Shivdayal Bagri. When former MLA Mahendra Bagri was asked about the reason for his joining Congress, he said that he worked as a dedicated worker in BJP for 25 years and considering him suitable, he was given a ticket in the 2013 elections and he became an MLA. His ticket was canceled in the 2018 assembly elections, yet he remained dedicated and did all the work of the party, but for the last five years, he was continuously neglected by the organization and the government, due to which he joined the Congress due to which he was fed up. When he was asked whether he had set any other conditions for contesting the elections, he said that he had joined the party without any conditions.
The party should assess them in the area which the party may deem appropriate.
