Bhopal: Gautam Nagar police have solved the blind murder case of Sonu Gupta, who was found murdered under suspicious circumstances. The victim, Sonu Gupta (30), a resident of A-6 Neelkanth Park, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, was found dead in Krishna Colony, Bhopal, on the premises near PG College, Bhopal. His death was initially deemed suspicious, as he had been strangled. Following the investigation, an FIR was registered.

Immediate instructions were given by senior officers, including Police Commissioner Harinarayanachari Mishra and Additional Police Commissioner Avadhesh Goswami, to locate the unknown assailant. With a team led by Deputy Commissioner Riyaz Iqbal, and guided by Assistant Commissioner Shalini Dixit and Rakesh Baghel, Gautam Nagar Police began investigating the case.

Using physical evidence, CCTV footage, and human intelligence, police identified the culprit as Navratan Gupta, Sonu’s brother-in-law. Navratan, a 42-year-old resident of Mumbai, confessed to the murder. He revealed that he had developed an obsession with Sonu’s wife, Chanda, and after a confrontation with Sonu, strangled him to death. Navratan then locked the door and fled to Mumbai. He was arrested on March 9 and is in police custody.

The investigation revealed Navratan’s knowledge of criminal tactics through crime shows, including planning the murder and misdirecting the police by planting jewelry at the crime scene to implicate someone else.
