Bhopal : On the concluding occasion of Glaucoma Week, eye surgeons and employees of Sewa Sadan Eye Hospital took out Glaucoma Awareness Rally and Candle March at Lalghati squre on Friday. Apart from Sewa Sadan employees, many dignitaries also participated in the rally.The employees of Sewa Sadan eye hospital raised slogans of “Glaucoma Bhagana Hai-Sewa Sadan Jaana Hai” and they took out the rally by lighting candles and standing in queues. On this occasion, Trustee Tulsi Advani, Senior Ophthalmologists Dr. Samta Patel and Dr. Sapna Prashant Shrivastava, Manager duo Kushal Dharmani, Bharti Janiyani, Anusha Tiwari, Dr. Neha, Dr. Sanjiti and Dr. Preeti and other employees were present.
On this occasion, Dr. Samta Patel said that glaucoma disease is a silent killer of vision. It is also called Kaanch Bindu. At present, Glaucoma is becoming the main cause of blindness. In glaucoma, the nerve of the eye which is connected to the brain gradually impairs vision and the pressure of the eyes increase. Due to this ailment, the patients suffer severe pain in the eye and radishness in the eyes. In case of such symptoms, the patient should get his/her eyes examined and treated by a glaucoma specialist without wasting time. Diabetic patients should get their eyes checked regularly after a certain interval. People who already have a history of glaucoma in their family need to be more careful.
