New Delhi, Nov 7 (UNI) Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday said that the government will soon come up with a robust national counter-terrorism policy and strategy to combat terrorism, terrorists and terrorism ecosystem in the country.
Addressing the inaugural session of ‘Anti-Terror Conference-2024’ here, the Home Minister called upon the states to unite in the fight against terrorism and equip the police forces with state-of-the-art technology and combat terrorism strongly.
Emphasising on greater use of technology and training by the police in the states, Shah said, “We cannot fight terrorism unless we train our entire force using technology. Now terrorism is standing in front of us in a borderless and invisible form and if we have to deal with it accurately then we will have to train the young officers with the highest level of technology.”
“Technology will have to be made an important part of their training. Many states have made it. I also want to tell all the states that if you need help in this then the academy of Hyderabad can also help you,” he said.
The Home Minister said that as far as dealing with terrorism is concerned, states have their own boundaries, states also have geographical boundaries, there are constitutional boundaries but terrorism and terrorists have no boundaries.
He said in the last 10 years, after Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister, the country was moving forward with a solid strategy against terrorism. Today the whole world has accepted India’s zero tolerance policy against terrorism.
Shah also stressed upon the police officers of all the states to fully implement the three new criminal laws. He also said that on November 26 which is celebrated as Constitution Day, the police should work towards granting bail to those individuals who have been in jail for a long time and are eligible for it.
While awarding medals to 11 police personnel, the Home Minister said that this is just a small recognition of their extraordinary hard work. Their contribution and dedication is much bigger and more inspiring than this medal.
On this occasion, he also paid tribute to all those personnel who have made sacrifices since independence to maintain the internal security and security of the borders of the country.
