Gull Feroza shines as Pakistan crush UAE by 10 wickets

Dambulla, July 23 (UNI) In a display of sheer dominance, Pakistan showcased their prowess with a commanding 10-wicket victory over UAE in their women’s T20 match on Tuesday..

The victory was marked by outstanding performances both with the ball and the bat, underlining Pakistan’s strength in the shorter format of the game.

Winning the toss, Pakistan elected to field first, a decision that quickly paid dividends. UAE struggled to build momentum against a disciplined Pakistani bowling attack, managing to post a modest 103/8 in their allotted 20 overs.

Theertha Satish was the standout performer for UAE, scoring 40 off 36 balls. However, she found little support from her teammates, with no other batswoman making a significant contribution.

Pakistan’s bowlers were in top form, with Sadia Iqbal leading the charge. She delivered an economical spell, taking 2 wickets for just 11 runs. Her precise line and length made it difficult for the UAE batters to score freely. Tuba Hassan also impressed, claiming 2 wickets for 17 runs, further stifling the opposition’s scoring rate. The rest of the bowling unit maintained pressure, ensuring that UAE never managed to get out of first gear.

Chasing a target of 104, Pakistan’s openers, Gull Feroza and Muneeba Ali, provided a masterclass in batting.

Feroza was particularly impressive, playing a fluent and composed innings. She remained unbeaten on 62 from 55 balls, anchoring the chase with a mix of aggression and control.

Muneeba was equally effective, scoring 37 not out off 30 balls. Together, they formed an unbroken opening partnership, steering Pakistan to victory in just 14.1 overs with a total of 107/0.

The match was highlighted by Feroza’s brilliant innings, characterised by her ability to find gaps and rotate the strike efficiently. Her performance, coupled with the disciplined bowling efforts of Sadia and Tuba, ensured that Pakistan maintained control throughout the match.

Despite UAE’s efforts, they were unable to penetrate Pakistan’s strong batting lineup or mount a significant challenge against their bowlers.
