Hasina will stay in Delhi: Son

Dhaka, Aug 7 (UNI) Former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s son Sajeeb Wazed Joy said his mother has no plans yet to leave India, media reports said on Wednesday.

‘Sheikh Hasina is currently in Delhi, with her sister, who lives there. She is well but upset. There is no decision for Hasina to move from India to another place,’ Joy stated.

In an interview with Deutsche Welle, the five-time prime minister, expressed her distress at the recent attack on her country, she couldn’t believe that people, for whom she and her family did so much, could stage an attack and she would need to leave the country “disgracefully”.

Responding to a question about leadership in the Awami League, Joy said he currently has no plans to enter politics.

“For the third time, our family has faced a coup. For the third time, we had to live abroad, losing everything. Except for my mother and me, all of us have been abroad for a long time. We are settled here. We have no difficulties in life here. We are accustomed to living here,” said Joy, according to Dhaka Tribune.

“She had made the decision a day earlier. Only a few of us knew that she would announce she was resigning and that her plan was to ensure a transition of power according to the constitution. But when they (protesters) began marching towards Ganabhaban, we said out of fear, there is no more time. You have to leave now,” Joy said.
