Bengaluru, Oct 18 (UNI) Following a compelling display by India’s Virat Kohli, New Zealand’s Rachin Ravindra acknowledged the Indian star’s brilliance, stating, “Virat is obviously a great player; he punished us.”
Ravindra’s comments came after a solid performance in the ongoing Test match between India and New Zealand, where he emphasised the importance of building partnerships on the pitch.
In a post-match interview, Ravindra highlighted his crucial partnership with Tim Southee, saying, “That partnership really helped me out. The objective was clear, and we knew what we needed to do.”
This sentiment underscored the collaborative spirit that is essential for success in the competitive realm of international cricket.
Playing in Bengaluru, Ravindra noted the comfort of familiar surroundings despite the wicket being “completely different.”
He remarked, “It’s a lovely wicket to bat on,” indicating a positive experience in conditions that presented opportunities for scoring.
Ravindra also shared a personal touch, mentioning his father’s presence at the match.
“It’s great to have him here; it’s his hometown, and I have some family here too. The crowd has been fantastic,” he added, reflecting on the supportive atmosphere that enriched the occasion.
When asked about his preparations and mindset, Ravindra dismissed any notions of superstition.
“I actually took the whole booklet of ticket allocations,” he said, showcasing his focus on the game rather than distractions.
As the match progresses, Ravindra remains optimistic about New Zealand’s chances, determined to build on their momentum while navigating the challenges posed by Kohli and the Indian team.
