New Delhi, Mar 18 (UNI) East, Central and adjoining Peninsular India is expected to witness rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and hailstorms for the next few days, with peak intensity on Tuesday, the India Meteorological Department said on Monday.
According to the weather department, “Scattered to fairly widespread light rainfall with isolated thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds are very likely over Gangetic West Bengal and Odisha from March 18 to 21 with the possibility of hailstorms and squalls reaching up to 60 kmph on March 19.”
Parts of Jharkhand, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, East Madhya Pradesh and Bihar are also likely to witness scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds from today till March 20.
Isolated hailstorms and thundersqualls reaching up to 60 kmph are also likely over these regions on March 19, the IMD said.
The weather department further predicted isolated heavy rainfall over Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Gangetic West Bengal and Jharkhand on March 19.
”Scattered to fairly widespread moderate rainfall with isolated thunderstorms and lightning very likely over Telangana during 18-20 March with hailstorms on March 18 and 19 and over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam from March 18 to 21, the IMD said.
“Isolated heavy rainfall also likely over these sub-divisions on March 20,” it added.
