Mumbai, May 13 (UNI) Heavy rains, accompanied with strong winds, lashed many parts in Maharashtra on Monday, disrupting normal life in metropolis and its suburban areas.
Heavy rains occurred this afternoon in Vikhroli, Bhandup and Mulundu suburbs of Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and in neighbouring Thane district, causing water-logging in low-lying areas leading to traffic jams.
Due to unseasonal rain, entire traffic system in city was moving slowly and the Metro train services between Ghatkopar and Versova also came to a grinding halt.
In neighbouring Thane district, Thane city, Dombivli, Kalyan, Badlapur and other places experienced light showers accompanied with gusty winds.
Rain however brought some respite from scorching summer heat.
The regional Met office has forecast heavy rains in next three to four hours.
