Kolkata, Nov 20 (UNI) A portion of a jute mill in Howrah’s industrial area, located near Foreshore Road, was gutted in a fire that broke out in the early hours of Monday, official sources said.
There had been no casualties reported so far in the fire, which was brought under control within two hours after the smoke and flames were noticed at around 0500 hours.
At least three firefighting vehicles were pressed into the service to douse the flames of the Vijayshree jute mill on the Foreshore Road, fire brigade sources added.
They said the fire, whose causes were yet to be ascertained, razed quickly at the stack of finished jute, which was stored in store rooms.
The industrial areas of the Howrah District also witnessed a massive blaze on November 10, in which three factories and a godown were razed to the ground.
