Hyderabad, Mar 2 (UNI) “ Women Safety and welfare are the foremost priorities in the state of Telangana ” said Shikha Goel, DGP Women Safety Wing here on Sunday.
Speaking at the second edition of Yellow Ribbon Run held here to raise awareness about Endometriosis, Shikha Goel said “I commend and congratulate Endometriosis Foundation Of India and Dr Vimee Bindra for this unique initiative to create and sensitise stakeholders on Endometriosis issue”.
Endometriosis is a disease in which tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside the uterus. It can cause severe pain in the pelvis and make it harder to get pregnant.
Women should know and raise their voice against issues that affect them ”, she added.
Inaugurating the run, Apollo Group Hospitals Joint MD, Dr Sangita Reddy, said “I hope these initiatives by the foundation will go a long way in creating appreciation and imparting knowledge about endometriosis ”
Speaking at the event, Dr. Vimee Bindra, Founder Endometriosis Foundation of India said “ Endometriosis Foundation of India was started with the aim of creating awareness and providing helping hands while networking with various stakeholders especially with the state and central governments, medical institutes to bring in accessible and affordable medical solutions to the patients suffering from Endometriosis. This year we reached out to various colleges and corporate to sensitise stakeholders on the issue”
Around 1500 participated in the event and the winners ( 1st 2nd and 3rd )of the Yellow Ribbon 10K, 5 K and 3K run among men and women were later felicitated with certificates and prize money.
