IAS officer Puja Khedkar’s mother detained

Mumbai, July 18 (UNI) Manorama Dilip Khedkar, mother of controversial Indian Administrative Service-Probationary Officer Puja Khedkar, has been detained for allegedly threatening farmers in Pune with a pistol, officials said on Thursday.

A team of Pune Rural police detained her from a hotel in Mahad town in Raigad early on Thursday, police said.

Manorama, a former sarpanch of Bhalgaon, was “missing” for nearly a week after a video went viral on social media showing her threatening some farmers in Mulshi with a pistol allegedly to grab their land.

She is being taken to Paud where a complaint against her was given by farmer Pandharinath Pasalkar last Friday, police said.

In a related development, Pune Commissioner of Police has issued a notice seeking to cancel Manorama’s her firearms licence.
