INDIA bloc MPs hold protest demanding justice for Vinesh Phogat

New Delhi, Aug 7 (UNI) The INDIA bloc MPs from Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha on Wednesday staged a protest at the Makar Dwar of the new Parliament House complex, demanding justice for wrestler Vinesh Phogat, who was disqualified from the women’s 50 kg wrestling event at the Paris Olympics.

In the Rajya Sabha, the INDIA bloc MPs led by Leader of the Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge walked out of the Upper House on the issue.

Moreover, after the statement by Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya in the Lok Sabha on the disqualification of Phogat, the Opposition MPs walked out of the house saying that they were not satisfied by the clarification of the Minister.

The Opposition members including Randeep Singh Surjewala, Rajiv Shukla, Derek O’ Brien among others raised slogan “We want justice for Vinesh Phogat” and “Stop conspiracy against Vinesh Phogat”.

Earlier, Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya made a statement in the Lok Sabha on wrestler Vinesh Phogat and said that the Indian Olympic Association has lodged a strong protest with the International Olympic Committee over the disqualification of wrestler Vinesh Phogat from Paris Olympics.
