Ahmedabad, Dec 2 (UNI) Stating that India will witness an unprecedented explosion of economic growth, Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) Chairman Mukesh Ambani on Saturday said that the size of the Indian economy will grow to US$ 40 trillion by 2047 from US$ 3.5 trillion now.
In his address at Pandit Deendayal Energy University (PDEU), the billionaire said that in order to fuel the growth the country will need enormous amounts of energy.
“From a 3.5 trillion-dollar economy today, it (India) will become a 40 trillion-dollar economy by 2047. And to fuel this growth, the country will need enormous amounts of energy – clean, green energy that won’t choke Mother Nature for the sake of human progress,” Ambani said.
The RIL top boss said that India’s energy requirement is set to double just by the end of this decade.
Ambani is President of PDEU which is promoted by government, industry and Energy & Petrochemical Department to create a world class university in energy education and research with special focus on the oil and gas sector.
PDEU was established by Gujarat Energy Research & Management Institute (GERMI) as a private university through the State Act enacted in 2007.
