Bhopal: India’s first Vande Bharat Sleeper train, running between Delhi and Mumbai, is set to be launched in April or May, offering an exciting new travel option for passengers. This new service will pass through Madhya Pradesh’s capital, Bhopal, making it much easier for people in Bhopal and nearby areas to travel to Delhi and Mumbai.
Senior DME of the Bhopal Railway Division, RP Khare, confirmed that the Vande Bharat Sleeper train could be operational by early May, providing an overnight service between Delhi and Mumbai. This new train is expected to reduce the travel time between Bhopal and Mumbai from the current 14-15 hours to just 9-10 hours, making the journey much more efficient and less tiring. Passengers will also enjoy meal options and snacks of their choice during the ride.
Currently, the Vande Bharat Express operates between Bhopal and Delhi, departing from Rani Kamalapati Railway Station at 5:55 AM. The new Vande Bharat Sleeper train will add to this by providing a faster and more comfortable route from Delhi to Mumbai, passing through Bhopal.
The Vande Bharat Sleeper underwent successful trials in Rajasthan’s Kota, where it reached a speed of 180 km/h. Further trials were conducted in Khajuraho, Madhya Pradesh, and Mahoba, Uttar Pradesh, to test its technical aspects, including speed, suspension systems, and braking mechanisms.
The train is expected to run at speeds between 160-200 km/h, offering passengers a modern, efficient, and comfortable travel experience. With the launch of the Vande Bharat Sleeper, the railway network is set to usher in a new era of high-speed, high-comfort travel across India.
