Indore: Indore turned into a canvas of colours on Wednesday as lakhs of people gathered to celebrate Rangpanchami with unmatched enthusiasm. The festival was marked by multiple mobile processions, known as Gairs, which paraded through the streets, covering a distance of around four to five kilometres. More than five lakh people participated in the grand festivities, making it one of the biggest celebrations in recent years.
The city witnessed an explosion of colours on Wednesday as more than five lakh people came together to celebrate Rangpanchami with great enthusiasm. The historic gair, a grand procession filled with vibrant hues of gulal, coloured water, and traditional music, traversed a four to five-kilometre route, turning the city into a riot of colours.
This traditional event, which has been celebrated for the past 75 years, saw the inclusion of beautifully decorated tableaux in the phaag yatra, adding to the festive spirit. Foreign tourists also joined in, experiencing the rich cultural heritage of Indore firsthand.
The gairs, which have been an integral part of Indore’s Rangpanchami for decades, featured coloured water showers, traditional music, and elaborate tableaux. Each gair had its own unique style, adding to the festive diversity.
Foreign visitors also joined the festivities, immersing themselves in the city’s rich cultural heritage. The historic Rajwada, which has witnessed these celebrations since the reign of the Holkars, once again became the focal point of the festivities.

The streets of Indore were drenched in gulal and coloured water as people danced to the beats of dhol and traditional folk music. Water tankers were used to spray coloured water on revellers, amplifying the joyful atmosphere.
The Rangpanchami celebrations at Rajwada hold special historical significance, and the festival of colours was played with great enthusiasm.
