New Delhi, Aug 7 (UNI) Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) has announced plans to set up a library at the community centre in Pochanpur village.
This decision follows a meeting between a delegation of villagers, led by Chaudhary Surinder Solanki, President of 360 Villages, and Padma Shri Prof Mahesh Verma, Vice Chancellor of GGSIPU, who had submitted a memorandum.
The delegation had requested the development of educational facilities at three government schools in Pochanpur village: SDMC Girls Primary School, SDMC Boys Primary School, and Govt Co-ed Sr Secondary School. Prof Verma stated, “GGSIPU has adopted two villages, Amberhai and Pochanpur, under its outreach programme, with a commitment to enhance the quality of life for village residents.”
The outreach programme includes various infrastructure developments such as renovating SC/ST chaupals, implementing rainwater harvesting, park beautification, signage installation, composting pits, solar lighting, and public toilets. Additionally, the programme encompasses services like awareness drives, mobile dental clinics, legal aid centres, sports coaching, competitive exam coaching, skill development, cleanliness drives, computer skilling, health camps, environment programmes, financial literacy, women empowerment initiatives, nutrition and wellness programmes, elderly care, and career counselling.
The delegation comprised Chaudhary Kamal Singh, Sh Chander Bhan, Sh Ramesh Jain, Sh Samany Singh, and Sh Rishi Raj. Dr Kamal Pathak, Sh Bhupinder, and Dr A K Saini of GGSIPU were also present during the occasion.
