Ahmedabad, April 17 (UNI) In a spectacular display of bowling prowess, Delhi Capitals decimated Gujarat Titans, restricting them to a meager 89 runs, marking the lowest score of the season in the 32nd match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) here tonight.
At the Narendra Modi Stadium, DC skipper Rishabh Pant’s decision to bowl first after winning the toss proved astute as his bowlers wreaked havoc on the GT’s batting lineup. The Gujarat team struggled right from the outset, losing wickets at regular intervals.
The downfall began with the dismissal of Gujarat’s captain, Shubhman Gill, who managed only 8 runs. Wriddhiman Saha followed suit, departing for just 2 runs. The wickets kept tumbling as Sai Sudarshan (12), David Miller (2), Abhinav Manohar (8), Rahul Tewatia (10), Shahrukh Khan (0), Mohit Sharma (2), and Noor Ahmed (1) failed to provide any resistance.
Rashid Khan emerged as the lone fighter for GT, scoring 31 runs off 24 balls, smashing two fours and a six. However, his efforts went in vain as the rest of the batting order crumbled around him. Spencer Johnson remained unbeaten on 1 run as the entire Gujarat team was bundled out for 89 runs in 17.3 overs.
For DC, Mukesh Kumar was the star performer with the ball, claiming three crucial wickets. Ishant Sharma and Tristan Stubbs provided excellent support, picking up two wickets each, while Axar Patel and Khalil Ahmed chipped in with a wicket apiece.
With this dominant bowling performance, DC secured a comprehensive victory over GT, highlighting their strong form in the ongoing IPL season.
