Harare/Dublin, Jan 3 (UNI) Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) has announced that they will host Ireland for an exciting full tour this February consisting of three T20Is, three ODIs and a historic one-off Test match.
The red-ball match between the two sides is set to take place at Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo from February 6 to 10. Following the Test match, the teams will compete in three ODIs, starting on February 14. The tour will conclude with three T20Is, beginning on February 22.
All the white-ball matches will be held at Harare Sports Club.
For the first time, Zimbabwe will host Ireland in a Test match, marking only the second meeting between the two teams in the longest format.
Their first encounter took place in July last year, with Ireland claiming a thrilling four-wicket victory over Zimbabwe in Belfast.
Zimbabwe Cricket Managing Director, Givemore Makoni, expressed his excitement about hosting back-to-back full tours.
“We are delighted to welcome Ireland for what promises to be an exciting and competitive tour,” he said.
“Hosting two full tours in quick succession is a testament to our commitment to providing our players with regular international cricket and to our efforts in growing the game in Zimbabwe,” Makoni said.
Ireland has announced its squad for the upcoming tour of Zimbabwe, with Morgan Topping receiving his maiden call-up to both the Test and ODI squads. Gavin Hoey is set for a potential Test debut after making his international debut in October last year.
The squad also sees the return of Gareth Delany and Barry McCarthy, both making comebacks after recovering from injuries. Ireland also announced that a training camp will be held at Desert Springs, Spain from 12-17 January, while the Test squad will travel to Dubai on 26 January for a four-day training camp.
