IVUS (Intravascular Ultrasound) Guided Angioplasty was successfully done for the first time in the Cath Lab of the Department of Cardiology of Hamidia Hospital, Bhopal. On this achievement, Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla congratulated the team and said that the government is constantly trying to make advanced health services available in government health institutions as well.

This important procedure was completed under the supervision of cardiologist Prof. Dr. Rajiv Gupta and Prof. Dr. Ajay Sharma. It is noteworthy that high level treatment like IVUS guided angioplasty has been done in Gandhi Medical College for only Rs 10,000, in private hospitals its cost is around Rs 3 lakh.

What is IVUS technology

IVUS technology allows the walls of coronary arteries to be checked from inside, giving accurate information about the amount and type of plaque buildup. This technique helps in understanding whether the patient is at risk of heart attack or not. Also, it determines the exact place of stent placement during treatment, which can reduce the chances of complications. This ensures more accuracy and safety in the treatment of patients.
