Ranchi, May 25 (UNI) Voting began at 7 am on Saturday in the Lok Sabha constituencies of Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Dhanbad and Giridih in Jharkhand amid tight security arrangements in the sixth phase of Lok Sabha polls.
Chief Electoral Officer of the State Ravi Kumar told here that voting will continue in these four areas till 5 pm. The voting process will continue till the last voter in queue has cast his vote.
It is said that all 8,963 booths of four parliamentary constituencies were being monitored through web casting from the control room. Of the total booths, 1,319 booths are in urban areas and 3,685 booths are in rural areas.
There are 4-D cameras are installed inside and outside every booth. Basic facilities have been provided at all booths.
A total of 93 candidates are in the fray for these four seats — 27 from Ranchi, 25 from Dhanbad, 25 from Jamshedpur and 16 from Giridih.
Kumar said that there are 82,16,506 voters in the sixth phase, more than all the other phases. Out of total 8963 booths, women are managing the arrangements at 186 booths and youth at 22. There are 15 unique booths, which have been specially developed.
Additional Chief Electoral Officer Dr. Neha Arora said that in the sixth phase, out of total 82,16,506 voters in four parliamentary constituencies Giridih, Dhanbad, Ranchi and Jamshedpur, there are 42,06,926 male and 40,09,290 female voters and 290 third gender.
He informed that there are a total of 18,64,660 voters in Giridih parliamentary constituency. Of which 9,60,489 are male and 9,04,163 are female voters. There are a total of 2,160 booths in Giridih parliamentary constituency.
Of them, 408 are in urban areas and 1,762 are in rural areas.

There are a total of 2539 booths in this parliamentary constituency. Of them, 1316 are in urban areas and 1223 are in rural areas.
Additional Chief Electoral Officer said that there are a total of 21,97,331 voters in Ranchi parliamentary constituency of which 11,12,524 are male and 10,84,738 are female voters.
There are a total of 2,377 booths in Ranchi parliamentary constituency. Of them, 949 are in urban areas and 1428 are in rural areas.
He informed that there are a total of 18,69,278 voters in Jamshedpur parliamentary constituency. Of which 9,37,412 are male and 9,31,733 are female voters.
There are a total of 1,887 booths in Jamshedpur parliamentary constituency. Of them, 688 are in urban areas and 1199 are in rural areas.
Key candidates whose fate is at stake in these four parliamentary constituencies include AJSU’s Chandra Prakash Chaudhary from Giridih, JMM’s Mathura Prasad Mahato, Jairam Mahato, BJP’s Sanjay Seth from Ranchi, Congress’s Yashaswini Sahay, BJP’s Vidyut Varan from Jamshedpur. Mahato, Sameer Mohanty of JMM and Dhullu Mahato of BJP and Anupama Singh of Congress from Dhanbad.
