J&K cannot be governed under dual control, says Advisor to CM

Srinagar, Oct 26 (UNI) Nasir Wani, Advisor to J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, on Saturday said Jammu and Kashmir’s system cannot function under dual control, with the CM overseeing one area and the Lieutenant Governor handling security.

“The situation in this state is unique. As you have seen, recent incidents have been tragic, with many lives lost,” Nasir Aslam Wani told reporters during a function here.

“Jammu and Kashmir cannot be governed under dual control. The security grid should be managed by the Lieutenant Governor, while the Chief Minister should oversee other administrative systems,” he stated.

“We need to operate through full statehood, and I hope the central government will restore it soon,” he added.

On the recent meeting of the chief minister with the Prime Minister and other union ministers, Wani said that these meetings were necessary so that the problems of this state can be solved.

“The Prime Minister and other ministers have assured that they will cooperate with the government of Jammu and Kashmir. So that people’s problems can be solved. We hope that statehood will be restored soon. Statehood is a must here,” he said.

He said the people’s hopes with this government are justified.

“People have chosen the government with their hopes as the elections have been held after 10 years. And the public government has been formed after 5 years. People’s hopes are associated with it. And we will try to do all the work that people have expected from us,” he said.

Regarding the Darbar move, he noted that Abdullah had already issued an order for its restoration, making protests unnecessary.
