J&K: Three terrorists neutralised in Doda

Jammu, June 26 (UNI) The joint team of security forces have eliminated three terrorists in an ongoing combat operation on Wednesday in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Large quantity of arms and ammunition has also been recovered from the encounter site.

After an intense fire-fight, three hardcore militants were neutralized in a joint operation of Indian Army and JKP, Nagrota (Jammu) based White Knight Corps (16 Corps) posted on X.

“A large cache of warlike stores, including automatic assault rifles, has been recovered.

Operations are currently in progress,” further posted.

Meanwhile, the police spokesperson from the Zonal Police Jammu after sharing official inputs regarding elimination of one terrorist earlier, said that two more terrorists have been neutralized in an ongoing joint operation in the Gandoh, Bhaderwah sector of district Doda. “Arms and ammunition have been recovered from their possession,” said the spokesperson.

Additional Director General of Police Jammu Zone Anand Jain alongwith DIG Doda and SSP Doda also supervised the operation on the spot.

In the morning, officials said that acting on tip off, security forces launched a cordon and search operation (CASO) in the Gandoh area.

They said that a joint team of Police and Army was fired upon by the hiding terrorists thus triggering an encounter.

“Three to four terrorists were believed to be trapped in an encounter,” they stated.

Security forces on June 11-12 launched a combing operation in the Chattergala area of Bhaderwah and Tanta Top area of Gandoh following two terror-related incidents.

On June 11, five army soldiers and one SPO of J&K Police were injured when terrorists fired upon them at Chattergala on the Bhaderwah-Bani road.

On June 12 evening, a policeman was injured when hiding terrorists opened fire upon security forces in the forest area and fled away.

Four suspects were also detained in this connection.
