Kamal re-elected MNM Chief, says ONOE dangerous to Nation

Chennai, Sep 22 (UNI) Actor-turned-politician Kamal Haasan, who was on Saturday, re-elected as the President of the Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) for a second term, observed that the Centre’s One Nation One Election (ONOE) proposal was dangerous to the Nation.

It is flawed and dangerous to the country, he said addressing his party’s second General Council meeting after being unanimously re-elected as the Party Chief for the second term.

“The ‘One Nation, One Election’ concept is dangerous for India as scars still remain in some Nations in Europe which tried to hold such simultaneous polls in the past”, Kamal, whose party is a key ally of the ruling DMK in Tamil Nadu, said.

Resolutions condemning the recurring and frequent attacks and arrests on TN fishermen by the the Sri Lankan Navy at the Palk Bay in high seas, strengthening the grama sabhas, were also adopted at the meeting.
