New Delhi, Oct 22 (UNI) Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convener Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday assured that all the terminated employees of the Delhi Commission for Women would be reinstated.
In a social media post responding to senior party leader Manish Sisodia’s statement, Kejriwal said, “I promise my sisters who have lost their jobs that I will do whatever it takes to ensure they are reinstated.”
Speaking to the media, Sisodia alleged that the BJP terminated the employees ahead of Diwali, calling the act a “disgraceful and inhumane”.
“Before Diwali, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has rendered hundreds of families without breadwinners by taking away their jobs. This sin committed by the BJP before Diwali is extremely shameful. When BJP gives speeches or makes manifestos, they talk about providing jobs. But removing people who have been working on contract for 30-35 years in such a manner reflects the true character of the BJP. It is disgraceful and inhumane to take away the jobs of so many people right before Diwali,” he said.
“This incident itself proves that the BJP is against the agenda of employment. Instead of giving jobs, the government is busy taking away the jobs of those who are already employed,” he added.
Sisodia further criticised the BJP for its treatment of long-serving employees and questioned the party’s commitment to providing employment.
“The workers were doing an excellent job; they were helping others, helping women, and not just recently—they have been working for the past 30 years. BJP has taken their jobs away in one stroke, and that too right before Diwali. How will these families celebrate Diwali? It will be a time of mourning for them. And with what face will the BJP now talk about giving jobs when they are snatching away jobs? As for the Aam Aadmi Party, the AAP and its government stand with these people, and whatever needs to be done to reinstate them, we will do it,” he said.
Meanwhile, Cabinet Minister Gopal Rai said, “Arvind Kejriwal has promised that all the sisters who were terminated from DCW, all those people who were harassed by the BJP, all those whose livelihoods were impacted, and all those who were caused suffering, their pain will be understood, and their woes will be attended to.”
“Slowly, one by one, the work that had been halted is being started again. We are already working on reinstating the people who have been wronged in the past, and we will continue to work on this as well,” he added.
