Bengaluru, June 4 (UNI) In a significant electoral victory, Radhakrishna Doddamani, the son-in-law of Congress President M Mallikarjun Kharge, emerged triumphant from the Kalaburagi Lok Sabha seat in Karnataka.
His victory, with a notable margin of 27,205 votes, underscores the enduring strength of the Congress party in the region.
Doddamani’s formidable opponent, Umesh Jadhav of the BJP, who previously held the seat, faced a tough challenge but fell short in this election. Doddamani garnered an impressive 6,52,321 votes, while Jadhav secured 6,25,116 votes.
The decision by the 81-year-old Kharge to refrain from contesting, citing his age and his pivotal role in steering the party’s national agenda and coordinating with the INDIA bloc, paved the way for Doddamani’s candidacy. A seasoned businessman with a commitment to education, Doddamani brings a fresh perspective and energy to the political landscape.
This victory not only solidifies the Congress party’s presence in Karnataka but also signals a new chapter in Kalaburagi’s representation in the Lok Sabha. As Doddamani prepares to assume his responsibilities, all eyes will be on him to deliver on the promises made during the campaign and to serve the people of Gulbarga with dedication and integrity.
