Kiran and Shruti Choudhary join BJP

New Delhi, June 19 (UNI) Former Congress MLA and Haryana minister Kiran Choudhary and her daughter Shruti Choudhary on Wednesday formally joined BJP at its headquarters in New Delhi.

The mother-daughter duo joined the ruling party in the presence of Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, BJP General Secretary and other senior BJP leaders.

Kiran and Shruti had resigned from the primary membership of the Congress party on Tuesday.

Kiran Choudhary is the daughter-in-law of former Haryana Chief Minister Bansi Lal and also a sitting MLA from Tosham in Bhiwani District.

Her daughter Shruti Choudhary, a former MP, was a working president of the Haryana Congress.

The exit of the two leaders could affect Congress’ prospect in the assembly elections due in October.

Kiran Choudhary was annoyed at senior Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda for having denied a ticket to Shruti Choudhary from Bhiwani-Mahendragarh constituency in the recently concluded Lok Sabha polls.

In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections both BJP and Congress bagged 5 seats each.
