- 2734 meter long flyover built from Vidhan Sabha Square and Gayatri Mandir to Ganesh Temple
Chronicle Reporter, Bhopal
Lakhs of drivers of the capital Bhopal are going to get a big relief soon. The construction work of the city’s longest 2734 meter and 15 meter wide Veer Savarkar Bridge is in progress.
Out of this, only the part from Gayatri Mandir to DB Mall is under construction, while the part from Vidhan Sabha Square to Ganesh Mandir has been completed. Officials are trying to inaugurate the said part by the predetermined deadline of November 15.
PWD officials said that its construction started in 2020. Along with the delay, the cost also increased. Now the total cost has reached about Rs 248 crore. With the construction of this bridge, more than one lakh drivers who travel daily, people of Arera Colony, Shivaji Nagar and MP Nagar will get relief from traffic congestion from Narmadapuram Road to Gayatri Mandir Press Complex.
Drivers going directly on Narmadapuram Road will not have to pass through the crowd at Arera Colony, Rani Kamlapati Railway Station, BJP State Office Tiraha, Pragati Petrol Square, MP Nagar, Board Office Square and DB Mall.
Relief from jam at Board Office
Officials said that in the next one or two months, traffic will improve for vehicles passing through MP Nagar and here. Currently, 60 percent of the vehicles pass through this road, which do not have to go to MP Nagar. These are mixed with those 29 percent vehicles, due to which there is a traffic jam every morning and evening during peak hours. According to the Public Works Department, people will be able to get on and off the flyover from Ganesh Temple. A Y section will be built at DB City Square. The reason for the delay in construction work in front of Gayatri Mandir is the delay in shifting of the pipeline of the Municipal Corporation.
Traffic plan finalized
According to the officials, the traffic plan has been finalized before the inauguration. According to this plan, when the traffic starts from the flyover, changes have been made in the traffic to prevent the traffic of Savarkar Setu and GG Flyover from coming face to face and to give a safe path to those going from number ten towards MP Nagar. Transfer bar making will be installed to reduce the speed. Vehicles going from Arera Colony to Hoshangabad Road will have to take a right turn first near Ganesh Temple. After this, they will take a U-turn near Narmada Hospital. Currently, these vehicles take a right turn from Ganesh Temple and go to Savarkar Setu. This system will stop. The entire plan has been made in such a way that no traffic comes face to face.
Construction has been completed on a part of GG Flyover from Bhopal Haat Square to Ganesh Temple. The RE wall of Gayatri Mandir will also be ready in the next three months. We have set a deadline of November 15 to complete the bridge. The date of inauguration will be decided with the consent of CM Dr. Mohan Yadav and PWD Minister Rakesh Singh.
