Leopard dies due to vehicle collision

A female leopard died on Tuesday due to an unidentified vehicle collision on the new bypass of Agra Mumbai National Highway under Barwaha forest division area of ??Khargone district of Madhya Pradesh.

Barwah Forest Divisional Officer (DFO) Anurag Tiwari said that the leopard died due to an unidentified vehicle hitting it on the new bypass of Agra Mumbai National Highway under forest range Kakda. He said that after examination, the veterinarians said that it is a 1.5 to 2 year old female leopard which has an injury on the jaw, and has also suffered hemorrhage due to the collision.

He said that there is dense forest on both sides of Bhuvantalai Beat Compartment No. 14 where this accident took place. A new bypass has been started here on 30 November itself, where high speed vehicles run. He said that NHAI has not provided an underpass on this bypass. He said that the Forest Department is corresponding with NHAI, so that such incidents do not happen in future due to the construction of underpasses.

He said that CCF Ramesh Ganawa of Khandwa Circle also inspected the spot and gave necessary instructions.
