LS adjourned for the day over Adani and Sambhal

New Delhi, Dec 2 (UNI) For the fifth day in a row, stalemate continued in the Lok Sabha as the House failed to take up any business following ruckus created by Opposition members over the alleged corruption case against Adani group, the violence in Sambhal and other issues, forcing adjournment of the House twice on Monday.

Speaker Om Birla adjourned the House soon after it assembled after the weekend break at 11 a.m, as the opposition members trooped into the Well of the House raising slogans and demanding discussions on the alleged corruption case against the Adani group, Sambhal violence and other issues. Similar scenes were witnessed as soon as the House re-assembled at noon.

Presiding Officer Sandhya Ray said that the Speaker had not accepted any notice and amidst the noise, the Chair completed the process of laying on the table of the House various papers and reports.

The Opposition remained adamant raising slogans, to which the Chair again requested the members to go back to their seats and allow the House to function.

The Presiding Officer said, “Hon’ble members, I urge you all to allow the House to function. Several members wanted to have discussions on various important issues. The entire country is watching us, especially those who are representing the people for the first time. They also want to take up issues related to their constituencies”.

The agitating members did not pay any heed to the request of the Chair, forcing Ray to adjourn the House for the day.
