LS adjourned till 2pm over security breach; Oppo demands Home Minister resignation

New Delhi, Dec 14 (UNI) Lok Sabha adjourned on Thursday till 2 PM amid sloganeering by opposition MPs over Wednesday’s security breach incident.

The opposition MPs demanded the resignation of Union Home Minister Amit Shah over the incident and his statement in the House.

Making an intervention during the opposition MP’s protest, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said, “Everyone has condemned this incident. The speaker has taken cognisance of the matter. We have to be careful about whom we issue the passes. All precautions possible will be taken in the future.”

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla said, “All of us are concerned” about what happened in the House yesterday. The security of the House is the responsibility of the Lok Sabha Secretariat.”

Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Choudhary said that the opposition parties have decided to take the matter of security breach in both the Houses.

Early, the opposition leaders met in the chamber of the leader of the opposition, Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge, to discuss the security breach matters.

Meanwhile, security measures have been stepped up considerably as the Winter Session of Parliament resumed this morning.

On the request of the Lok Sabha Secretariat, the Ministry of Home Affairs has ordered a probe into the breach case.

In view of a major security breach, eight security personnel were suspended by the Lok Sabha secretariat on Wednesday.

As per the Delhi Police, the four people arrested over the security breach in Parliament have been charged under the Anti-Terror Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA).

On Wednesday, two people jumped into the Lok Sabha chamber from the public gallery and opened canisters that emitted yellow gas.
