Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav visited AIIMS Bhopal on Monday to meet Dinesh Malviya, who recently underwent a successful heart transplant. The CM inquired about his health and emphasized the importance of organ donation, announcing new state initiatives to encourage this noble cause.
State honors for organ donors
Dr. Yadav declared that individuals who donate organs will receive state honors. With the family’s consent, their bodies will be respectfully transported to medical institutions, and their funeral will be conducted with full state honors. Additionally, if a donor lacks an Ayushman Card, the government will ensure its issuance. The CM also proposed honoring donors on national occasions to recognize their contributions.
State organ transplant institute to be established
To boost organ transplantation, the government will set up a state-level transplant institute to provide advanced medical care. Medical colleges across the state will also enhance organ donation and transplant facilities. To ensure timely treatment, air ambulances and helicopter services will be expanded for critical patients.
AIIMS Bhopal calls for Ayushman coverage for heart transplants
AIIMS Bhopal has urged the central government to include heart transplants under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, enabling financially weaker patients to benefit. AIIMS Director Dr. Ajay Singh highlighted the significance of the state’s first fully indigenous heart transplant, where both specialists and equipment were from Madhya Pradesh, unlike previous transplants requiring out-of-state assistance.
CM Yadav praised AIIMS doctors for this milestone and encouraged public participation in organ donation, ensuring life-saving treatments for those in need.
