- Grand Procession of Samrat Vikramaditya Held from Fatehpuri to Red Fort
Smt. Gupta remarked that it is a moment of pride and joy that such a magnificent performance, centered on the life and legacy of Samrat Vikramaditya, is being presented in Delhi by the Government of Madhya Pradesh. Through this grand play, the people of Delhi have been given a valuable opportunity to reconnect with their rich heritage, cultural roots, and time-honored traditions.
Expressing her happiness at being appointed the Welcoming Chairperson of this national-scale event under the spirit of “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat”, Smt. Gupta invited the citizens of Delhi to attend the grand performance of “Mahanatya Samrat Vikramaditya”, which will take place from April 12 to 14 at Madhavdas Park, Red Fort.
In a ceremonial gesture, Chief Minister Smt. Gupta welcomed Shri Vikram Singh Chauhan, the artist playing the role of Samrat Vikramaditya, by performing an aarti, applying tilak, and adorning him with a floral garland. She ceremoniously seated the actor on a grand chariot and flagged off the majestic procession from Fatehpuri, Chandni Chowk, to the Red Fort.
The grand procession featured artists representing the Navratnas (Nine Gems) of Vikramaditya’s court, soldiers on horseback and camels, and traditional dance troupes. The vibrant spectacle was witnessed and participated in by several distinguished personalities including Shri Ram Tiwari, Cultural Advisor, Chief Minister’s Office (Madhya Pradesh); Shri Atul Jain, General Secretary, Deendayal Research Institute (Delhi); and social leaders Shri Rahul Kothari, Shri Vishnu Mittal, Shri Naresh Sharma, Shri Rajesh Kushwaha, among others.
Various trader associations of Chandni Chowk, including the Kirana Committee Delhi, Textile Market Association, Bullion Merchants Association, Delhi Hindustan Mercantile Association, and the Delhi Electrical Traders Association, extended a grand welcome to the procession along the route, showering flower petals on the chariot carrying Samrat Vikramaditya.
