Major betting racket busted in Bhopal

Bhopal – Acting on a tip-off, the Crime Branch raided a residential complex in Shahjahanabad, where large-scale illegal betting was being conducted from a woman’s home. The operation led to the arrest of 34 individuals, including two women, and the seizure of betting slips, mobile phones, and approximately Rs 25,750 in cash.

Meticulous surveillance leads to crackdown

The Crime Branch has been closely monitoring organized crime across the city, identifying offenders and keeping them under watch. Informants had been activated to track illicit activities involving multiple individuals. One such lead pointed to Maya Singh, who was allegedly running an illegal betting operation from her residence, allowing customers to place bets on numbers.

Upon confirming the information, officials secured a search warrant and launched a raid on the Shahjahanabad multi-storey complex. The intelligence proved accurate, as police found Maya Singh and Durga Singh actively conducting illegal betting. Alongside them, 32 others were caught in the act and taken into custody.

Two pocket diaries
Two mobile phones

All 34 accused, including Mahesh Kumar, Prahlad Singh, Tarun Kanojia, Deepak Neelkanth, Murli Dhar, Salman, Rakesh Chauhan, and others, have been booked under the Gambling Act. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are working to dismantle more such networks operating in the city.
