Major Police reshuffle likely this week in Madhya Pradesh

Bhopal: A significant reshuffle in the Madhya Pradesh police department is expected within the next week, with the transfer list of over 30 senior police officials likely to be released soon. The reshuffle, approved by Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, will primarily affect field-level officers, including Superintendents of Police (SPs) in over a dozen districts and several IPS officers in Bhopal and Indore.

Sources within the state secretariat suggest that the long-awaited transfer list had been delayed due to public holidays and administrative reasons. However, with the ban on transfers set to lift in May, the state government is now poised to implement the changes.

The SPs of Dhar, Neemuch, Chhatarpur, Mandsaur, Shivpuri, Guna, and Khargone are likely to be replaced—especially those who have recently been promoted to DIG (Deputy Inspector General) rank. Additionally, Sachin Atulkar is expected to be formally appointed as IG Jabalpur, a position he currently holds on an interim basis.

The reshuffle may also include IGs and DIGs of various ranges, and around six IPS officers in Bhopal and Indore are expected to be transferred.

This development follows the recent transfer of four district collectors and nine IAS officers, with further administrative changes, including department heads and postings in the Industries Department, anticipated by the end of the month.
