- Dr. P Gandhi tells at seminar on healthy diet at BMHRC
Bhopal: A seminar on the topic ‘Healthy diet for overall health’ was organized at Bhopal Memorial Hospital and Research Center (BMHRC). Dr. Manisha Srivastava, Director-in-Charge of BMHRC was present as the chief guest in the program. Addressing the employees and participants present in the program, Dr. Puneet Gandhi, head of the research department of the institute, said that we can make our lives healthy by making slight changes in our lifestyle and cooking pattern. Every person has a daily routine or biological cycle based on his age, need, environment etc., this is called syncardian rhythm. If it deteriorates, then the person’s health starts getting affected.
Dr Gandhi said that there are many small things, which if we adopt in our life, then we can avoid many diseases and if we are suffering from diseases, then we can manage them well. For example, after 2 am our liver goes into dormant state, so we should neither eat nor sleep after this time. Similarly, if we wake up in the morning and go out of the house for a while, then our whole day remains fresh.
He said that it is also necessary to change our eating and drinking pattern. For example, it is believed that if the nerve of the body gets damaged, then it is impossible to repair it, but now many new researches show that if we take substances containing omega three, magnesium, methylcobalamin, then nerve damage can be cured to a great extent.
Similarly, by changing your diet, diseases like diabetes, hypertension, arthritis can be cured or can be managed well. Director-in-charge Dr. Manisha Srivastava said that discipline is very important in life. If you live with discipline, you will also remain healthy. We should give priority to natural food in our diet. We should take care of our health and if we find anything unusual in the body, then we should get it checked immediately. During the symposium, Dr Ravindra M. Samarth, Assistant Professor in the Department of Research, gave information about the nutritional guidelines issued by ICMR for Indians.
