Man arrested after refusing marriage

  • Couple was staying in live-in relationship for 3-year

Bhopal – A 25-year-old woman has filed a police complaint against a man who allegedly exploited her physically under the false promise of marriage during a three-year live-in relationship. The incident came to light after the man abruptly refused to marry her, prompting the woman to seek legal recourse.

According to Baghsewania police, the woman, who works at a mall and resides in the Baghsewania area, originally hails from the same village in Betul district as the accused, Lokesh Singh Thakur, a private sector worker. The two developed a romantic relationship in 2022 and subsequently began living together.

During their time in the live-in arrangement, the accused allegedly promised to marry her, gaining her trust. However, just days ago, he backtracked on his commitment, stating he no longer wished to proceed with marriage. Deeply distressed by the betrayal, the woman approached the police and lodged a formal complaint.

Following the FIR, police launched a search operation and apprehended Lokesh, who was reportedly attempting to flee back to Betul. Authorities confirmed that the accused will be presented in court shortly and is likely to be remanded to judicial custody. The case is under further investigation as the police continue to collect evidence and statements.
