Property dealer sells one plot to 2 people

A property dealer’s false promises shattered the dreams of two families. Shockingly, one family had already built a one-storey house. When both parties reported their claims to the police, they discovered they had been cheated. The Shahjahanabad police station in Bhopal is investigating the incident and has arrested the fraudster involved.

The case came to light when Pappu Khan, a resident of Gas Rahat Colony Housing Board, filed a complaint. He had purchased an 800-square-foot plot in Danish Colony, Nishatpura, on October 4, 2021, for about Rs 4.5 lakh and constructed a one-storey house on it. Meanwhile, Mehboob Khan claimed he bought the same plot for Rs 6 lakh on March 20, 2022, and registered it in his daughter Zohra Khanam’s name. Upon discovering the duplicate ownership, both parties approached the authorities.

The primary investigation, led by ASI Anant Pandey, revealed that both Pappu Khan and Mehboob Khan had purchased the plot from Irfan Hussain, on the recommendation of property broker Muzaffar Ali alias Umer. The police registered a case under sections 387/24 and 420 (forgery) against Irfan Hussain and arrested him. Authorities are also investigating the involvement of sub-registrar office officials in the dual registration of the plot.
