Lucknow, Sep 29 (UNI) A man and his daughter were killed and 12 others injured when a portion of an under-construction apartment collapsed on huts in PGI area of the state capital Lucknow, police sources said on Friday.
The sources said that construction of Antriksh Apartment is being done in Sector-11 of Vrindavan colony near which some workers have erected their huts. “Late on Thursday night a portion of the apartment collapsed on the huts allegedly due to unauthorised digging. Around 14 people were buried under the debris,” they said.
Police sources said that the people buried under the debris were pulled out during rescue operation by the police, fire fighters and SDRF team and were taken to the hospital. “Mukadam, a resident of Pratapgarh, and his two-month-old daughter Ayesha were declared dead at the hospital. Except one, all others, who sustained injuries, have been discharged from the hospital,” they said.
Police sources alsos said that on the complaint of Mukadam’s father Shabbir a case was lodged against the owner of the apartment and the contractor under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
