Man hospitalized after Melbourne shooting

Sydney, Feb 16 (UNI) Police in Melbourne are searching for two people after a man was seriously injured in a shooting in the city’s southeast.

Victoria Police said on Sunday that an altercation broke out when three men attended a property in Pakenham, 50 km southeast of central Melbourne, shortly after 1 a.m. local time on Sunday.

During the altercation with an occupant of the property, one of the three men was shot, police said.

Emergency services were called to the scene and the man was taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries under police guard.

The other two men fled the scene before police arrived.

“Despite a thorough search of the area, the remaining two men were not located,” a police statement said.

The occupant remained at the property and will be interviewed by detectives investigating the shooting.

Other occupants of the home were not injured.

Police established a crime scene and have asked anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
