Rains expected in many parts of state till Dec 3, says IMD
Bhopal: The regional meteorological department has predicted that the current rainy weather in the state will persist until December 3 in many parts of state. The initial showers on Sunday-Monday night marked the onset of the winter rains, leading to a significant change in the entire state’s weather. Cold winds prompted residents to take out sweatshirts and woolen clothes.
Bhopal experienced intermittent rainfall throughout Monday. The sun remained hidden behind clouds even on Tuesday. Moderate thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are expected to persist in Chhindwara (Pench), Pachmarhi, and Seoni, while lighter thunderstorms with lightning are anticipated in Mandla (Kanha Tiger Reserve-KRT), Narmadapuram, East Betul, Narsingpur, Balaghat, Anuppur (Amarkantak), Jabalpur (Bhedaghat), and Dindori districts.
“The entire state’s weather has transformed due to a western disturbance, resulting in widespread rainfall. Betul district received the highest rainfall, measuring 40.6mm in the last 24 hours. Narmadapuram recorded 17mm, and the state capital Bhopal received 7.4mm of rainfall,” stated Pramendra Kumar, a meteorologist at IMD Bhopal.
Kumar also mentioned the likelihood of a two to three-degree Celsius decline in the maximum temperature across the state. “This is due to the western disturbance. Another western disturbance in the Himalayan region is expected to arrive on November 30, ensuring continuous rainfall until December 3,” he added.
Highest 40.6mm rainfall in Betul
Rainfall in the last 24 hours included highest 40.6mm in Betul, 34.6mm in Seoni, 34.2mm in Chhindwara, 23.2mm in Pachmarhi, 17.0mm in Narmadapuram, 9.0mm in Narsinghpur, 8.4mm in Khargone, 7.4mm in Bhopal, 7.2mm in Mandla, 5.0mm in Khandwa, 3.8mm in Umaria, and 3.3mm in Gwalior.
Ved Pratap Singh, a senior officer at the meteorological department, explained, “The cyclonic circulation over the northern part of Madhya Pradesh is still active. Although the previously active western disturbances have weakened, their impact will persist. Rainfall is expected to continue for the next few days, even beyond a week after the western disturbance. Another western disturbance is anticipated after November 29, leading to resurgence in rain activities.”
Classes not to be held before 9 am
Classes from nursery to fifth in all the schools of Bhopal will not be conducted before 9 am. This order has been issued by Collector Ashish Singh on Tuesday. The decision has been taken due to continuous increase in fog and cold in the state.
In the order issued by the Collector, it has been said that, in view of the onset of winter season and drop in temperature and in view of the health and safety of the students, all types of educational institutions from nursery to class 5th, government, non-government, CBSE, ICSE etc. Institutions will not operate before 9 am. The said order will come into effect with immediate effect.
