Tax was increased 3 years ago
About 3 years ago, the water tax was increased by 15%. There are more than 2.75 lakh tap connections in the city. Out of these, 2 lakh connections are installed in houses with an area of 2400 square feet or less. About 25 thousand connections are installed in houses with an area of 2400 square feet. The rest of the connections are in the houses of the poor class. People whose houses are built in an area of up to 2400 square feet have to pay 210 rupees. An increase of 30 rupees per month was made. Those whose houses are built in an area of more than 2400 square feet are paying Rs 300 per month.
If the water tax is increased for the first time in the current tenure, it will be for the first time in the current tenure. However, there was a discussion about increasing the water tax in previous meetings, but later the decision was postponed.
Meeting will be held after 3 months
The last meeting was held on 13th December. This meeting was held about three months back, while the rule is to hold it within 2 months. In such a situation, the opposition, that is, the Congress councillors have expressed their protest. However, there was a Global Investors Summit in Bhopal on 24-25 February. This is being said to be the reason for the delay in the meeting.
