Srinagar, Feb 3 (UNI) An ex-serviceman was shot dead and his wife and daughter were injured by militants in Jammu Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Monday,officials said.
They said the militants barged into the house of ex-army man Manzoor Ahmed Wagay in the Behibag area and opened fire on the inmates, injuring the three family members including him.
The injured were shifted to a hospital where ex-serviceman Wagay succumbed to his injuries.
The condition of his wife and daughter is stated to be stable.
Soon after the incident security forces cordoned off the area and launched a manhunt to track down the militants responsible for the crime.
The Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has strongly condemned the heinous terrorist attack on an Ex-Serviceman and his family in Kulgam. He paid homage to Manzoor Ahmad Wagay, martyred in the terrorist attack.
“I strongly condemn the heinous terrorist attack on Shri Manzoor Ahmad Wagay and his family in Kulgam. The entire nation stands in solidarity with the bereaved family in this hour of grief. I have instructed the officials to provide the best possible treatment to the injured. Praying for their speedy recovery. I assure the people that the perpetrators of this cowardly attack will be punished soon”, the Lieutenant Governor said.
