Minor rape victim attempts suicide, accused arrested

Bhopal: A minor living in Kamla Nagar tried to commit suicide recently. When the Child Welfare Committee got her counselled, it was revealed that a youth had been sexually exploiting her for the last one and a half years. After that, the police registered a case against the accused under various sections including rape and POCSO Act and arrested him. According to the police, the 14-year-old girl living in the area is originally from Chhattisgarh. After studying till eighth standard, she stays at home. About two years ago, she was introduced to a young man named Akash living in the locality.

Akash developed friendship with the teenager and raped her in January 2023. He had threatened to kill her if she told anyone, so the teenager did not complain about the incident. A few months ago, the family members had gone to Chhattisgarh with the teenager, but Akash was in constant touch with her.

Under pressure from Akash, the teenager came back to Bhopal and started living alone in her house. About a month ago, when Akash had physical relations with her, she became upset and tried to end life by consuming phenyl. When the matter reached the child welfare committee, the teenager was counseled.

During the counseling, the victim told that Akash has been sexually exploiting her for the last one and a half years by threatening her, due to which she took this step. The child welfare committee took the victim to the Balika Griha, from where the Kamla Nagar police was informed. Kamla Nagar police have registered a case of rape against the accused and arrested him.

Jewelry stolen from woman’s house

Thieves broke the lock of a woman’s empty house in TT Nagar and stole 50 thousand rupees in cash and jewelry. At the time of the incident, the woman had gone to Maharashtra to attend a marriage. Police have registered a case against unknown thieves. According to the police, Geeta Ahire, wife of Lakhan Ahire (50), lives in Panchsheel Nagar slum and works as a cook in people’s homes. On August 1, she went to Nashik, Maharashtra to attend a funeral. Two days ago, grandson Akshat Kedar told her that the lock of her house was broken. When the woman came home and saw, all the stuff was scattered and apart from 50 thousand rupees cash kept in the cupboard, gold and silver jewellery were missing. The police have registered a case against unknown thieves.

Cash and laptop stolen from shop

Thieves broke the lock of a bakery located near Hotel Shugan under Kotwali police station and stole 25 thousand rupees in cash and goods worth about 45 thousand including a laptop. The police have registered a case against unknown thieves on the report of Imran Khan. Similarly, miscreants broke into a workshop near the mosque under Talaiya police station by opening its window and stole goods worth about Rs 60,000 including LED TV, keyboard, mouse, setup box. Police have registered a case against unknown thieves on the basis of Arif’s report and started investigation.
