New Delhi, Nov 9 (UNI) Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh on Saturday alleged that minority groups and innocents were being harassed in the BJP-ruled states.
Addressing a press conference at The Constitution Club of India, Singh said, “Since 2014, whereever there has been BJP government in the country, minority groups have been persecuted and innocent people implicated in false cases and sent to jail.”
He said that, in Madhya Pradesh, several such incidents have taken place under the double engine government and recalled an incident that took place in Ratlam in September this year.
Singh alleged that several honest police officials were being harassed for following the rules and guidelines of the Central Government and the Supreme Court.
The former CM also alleged that laws and guidelines were openly violated and innocent people were being harassed and their houses being demolished and on the other hand, criminals were being protected.
The Senior Congress leader said that he had also written letters to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah with regard to treatment meted out to two police officials by the Madhya Pradesh government.
“Officials who dedicatedly perform duties and prevent communal violence are punished and those who spread communal violence are encouraged,” Singh said.
He said, “This is basically the unconstitutional method of the double engine government.”
